Has it really been 2 months?
My baby is now smiling at me, holding light-weight objects such as chap-stick, making noises other than cries, growing hair, hitting his toys, holding his head up BY HIMSELF, following us with his little blue eyes up, down, and all around the room. When did this happen? How? He's only 2 months old!
He's discovering his hands. And his tongue. He likes to lick his hands and arms. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he discovers that he can put more things in his mouth. Such as that chap-stick mommy places into his hands. He accidentally smacked himself with it today... got startled and cried... oops mommy. Oops.
I want to tell you that everything has gone by without a hitch. It hasn't. There have been nights (and will be more) that I've broken down, too tired to function any longer, passing baby off to daddy for a few hours while I get much needed sleep. There have been the "I don't know what to do with him he's crying and I've changed him twice and fed him and burped him and played with him and he just. won't. stop." moments. We're even battling a cold right now. The scariest thing to happen yet. Bronchialitis. Complete with wheezing, coughing, congestion, and a fussy/grumpy baby. Poor thing. (And as if feeding him every 2 hours wasn't enough, I now have to give him breathing treatments every 4 hours, plus 2 extra each day. It's lovely for my sanity.)
He truly is a great baby, though. He only cries when he needs something, or when he wants mommy and daddy to hold him close and snuggle. He's beginning to understand what nighttime is and will sleep for a good 4-5 hours each night. He smiles at me when I haven't seen him in a while. He's perfect. We wouldn't trade these past few months for anything in the world. And you know what? There are many more to come. <3
